Hello there, got an issue involving the older liteon drives. I recently decided to run an older PC I had laying around, ASUS motherboard P5QL(great at the time of release). Had no issues running my drive on Windows XP, Windows 7.
And I had not used this PC since then. Is this a step towards removing CD/DVD drives altogether? Or is this a simple problem of just not incorporating plug & play options for older drives. I cannot utilize firmware updates because Windows 10 won't recognize this drive. Help please, or I may be forced to roll back my PC to the last working config in order to use this drive. Thanks in advance.
Thankyou kindly for your replies. After some research I have solved the issue by switching my PC off and disconnecting the drive, from there I rebooted without the drive.
I then simply repeated the process of switching my PC off and reconnecting the drive and rebooting. Voila, the drive now works successfully.
The drive was connected during the upgrade to Windows 10, and this has in someway impeded detection. I shall continue working towards uncovering the many mysteries of this unfamiliar OS, and with the help of this large community I am certain that it will be a breeze. Thanks again. I believe that my original problem stemmed from having all of my HP software deleted during the Windows 10 reload. You are correct on the plug and play, I hear the CD/ROM cranking when I insert a CD or a DVD but it never shows up as a drive when I open my file explorer listing. On the HP website when I go to troubleshoot the CD/ROM drive is does do a check on my system for a CD/ROM driver.
